In November '98 Harry was involved in a terrible
motorcycle accident. On a ride to Monaville with a group
of friends, something went wrong. Witnesses said that the
dresser left the roadway and flipped end-over-end several times
with Harry still in the driver's seat.
Lifeflight, a long hospitalization, traction and
lots of physical therapy were necessary "put humpty dumpty back
together again."
With the bike rebuilt and the old bones mostly mended,
Harry is once again a fixture in the Houston biker communtity.
Harry still loves to ride - he has put over 10,000
miles on his bike already this year. When the BikerTrash
staff met up with Harry this past weekend we learned that he left
Houston at 6 a.m. Sunday, rode to Lake Charles, LA to leave some
money at the BlackJack tables and then rode back to Houston.
By 3 p.m. he was in his favorite spot at his favorite ice house.
As bikers we spend a lot of time thinking about
the friends that we have lost - and so we should. But don't
forget to be grateful for those that have been spared and whose
company we can still enjoy.
