The weather was just right - in the low 70's with a crystal-clear blue sky. We had ridden from Houston to Dallas to attend and cover the Stevie Ray Vaughan Memorial Ride and Concert - and it looked like the perfect day to do it.

We had heard about this event for several years and decided that this (the 8th year) was a good time to make the trip.

The schedule called for the ride to leave Hooter's West End promptly at noon, with registration and pre-ride fun starting at Hooter's at 10 am. Hooter's was already hopping when we got there - two lovely ladies were at the front door with Free Buffalo Wings! What a gracious, and tasty, way to start the day.

As soon as I finished a couple of the free wings and realized that they were very spicy, I quickly had a strong desire for a big glass of iced tea. Other biker-type beverages were available but this was my drink of choice.

The sponsors were hoping for a turnout of 6,000 bikers, so we watched as more and more bikers rolled in, parked and "hungout" while waiting for the ride to start.

By 11:00 Hooter's was packed and just trying to get in or out was a traffic jam - but everyone was in a festive mood and took the crowding and jostling with good nature.

The bikes and bikers were a great photo opportunity grab some great people shots - and we took every advantage of the opportunity!

The logistics of registration, traffic control and parking was being handled by a large group of volunteers with the local Gypsy MC assuming a major role - the Gypsy MC is always good about volunteering to help with events and this was no exception.

A lot of different "colors" were represented within the crowd, a large group from the Scorpions MC were there along with Gypsies, HOG members, Fire and Wind and others. more . . .
